Bot Protection

Your Abandoned Cart Value shouldn't include traffic that was never a shopper

Every Shopify store picks up some automated traffic alongside real visitors. NavonaAI keeps carts it flags as unlikely to be a real shopper out of the one number merchants use most — without hiding that activity, and without changing anything a shopper actually sees.

A reporting rule, not a hidden one

A number that quietly counts automated activity at full value stops being trustworthy the moment you notice it. If a run of automated carts gets summed into your abandoned revenue alongside everything real, the figure looks bigger than the revenue that was actually within reach.

NavonaAI addresses this by excluding carts it flags as unlikely to be a real shopper from Abandoned Cart Value specifically. What gets flagged and why is covered in full in our bot protection documentation; this page is about what it means for your dashboard, not the mechanics behind it.

What gets excluded, and what doesn't

Bot Protection touches one number. Everything else stays a complete record.

Removed from Abandoned Cart Value

Flagged carts are excluded from this figure so a run of automated activity can never make your abandoned revenue look larger than it actually is.

Still counted everywhere else

Your total cart count and abandonment rate include every cart, flagged or not. NavonaAI never hides activity — it only keeps it out of the one dollar figure it would distort.

A setting, not something you're stuck with

Bot Protection lives in your NavonaAI dashboard under Settings → Bot Protection, as the “Exclude Anomaly Abandonments” toggle. It ships on for every store.

Turn it off and Abandoned Cart Value is calculated from every abandoned cart, unfiltered — nothing about the popup or the discount codes NavonaAI issues changes either way. It's a reporting choice, not a feature you unlock.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this change what shoppers see on my store?

No. Bot Protection only affects how NavonaAI reports Abandoned Cart Value in your dashboard — it has no effect on the popup, the discount code, or anything a shopper experiences.

Is Bot Protection on by default?

Yes. Every store starts with it on. You can turn it off in Settings → Bot Protection if you’d rather see Abandoned Cart Value calculated from every abandoned cart, unfiltered.

If I turn it off, does my abandoned cart count change?

No — cart counts and abandonment rate already include every cart, flagged or not, whether Bot Protection is on or off. Turning it off only changes what’s included in the Abandoned Cart Value figure.

How does NavonaAI decide what to flag?

The full explanation of what gets flagged and why lives in the documentation, linked above — that’s the place for the mechanics, not this page.
