Cart to Order Rate

Cart to order rate is the share of carts created in a period that went on to become an order.

It's calculated as orders placed divided by carts created, measured over the same time window and sales channel as cart abandonment rate. The two numbers are two sides of the same coin: cart to order rate and cart abandonment rate always add up to 100% of the carts created in that period, so knowing one tells you the other.

It's worth reading alongside the actual cart and order counts, not just the percentage, for the same reason as cart abandonment rate: the percentage can move because shopper behavior changed, or simply because the number of carts created changed, and those two causes look the same in the percentage alone.

Like any rate built from cart and order counts, this one depends on bot traffic being filtered out first. An unfiltered bot cart adds to the total carts created without ever becoming an order, which pulls this rate down without any real change in shopper behavior.
