Discount Stacking
Discount stacking is what happens when more than one discount applies to the same order or line item at checkout.
Whether two discounts stack depends on rules each discount declares about which other discount classes it combines with — order-level, product-level, and shipping are the three classes on Shopify, and combination isn't automatic just because two discounts happen to be active at the same time.
Stacking involves real trade-offs for a merchant. Letting a discount always combine with everything else guarantees it reaches the shopper, but can give away more margin than intended; blocking it from combining protects margin, but can mean a shopper who qualifies for two offers only gets to use one.
